DB Regio’s „Ideenzug“
The „Ideenzug“, or „Train of Ideas“, is a full-size mock-up incorporating some interesting on-board accommodation concepts for a future middle-distance train, presented at Arena Nürnberg on 7 November 2017 by DB Regio and Bayerische Eisenbahngesellschaft.
The photo shows a game console saloon, targeted at younger travellers.

IEPs News Round-Up
On 16 October 2017 the first Class 800 EDMUs made their inaugural public passenger-carrying runs between London and Bristol, thus completing the first phase of the Department for Transport’s 5.7 billion GBP Intercity Express Programme.
800 008 and 009 at London Paddington on 16 October 2017, prior to departure on the 07.00 service to Bristol Temple Meads. This was the first public Class 800 IET westbound working.

TRAKO 2017
Between 26 and 29 September 2017 the 12th edition of the TRAKO 2017 international trade fair, the largest rail-orientated trade fair in Poland, took place at the AmberExpo Exhibition & Convention Centre in Gdańsk.
Rail Polska ensured that, until 26 September, the best-kept secret of TRAKO 2017 was its transformation of a Type M62 heavy freight diesel locomotive into a Type 207E 3 kV DC electric.

ČD’s First Refurbished Class 680 Pendolino Returns To Service
On 25 September 2017 ČD returned 680.005 to scheduled services, following a complete interior refit.
En route from Praha to Košice on 25 September, 680.005 departs from Český Těšín, its last stop before crossing the border between the Czech Republic and Slovakia, during its first scheduled service following refurbishment, forming train SC 241 „Pendolino Košičan“.

Recent CZ LOKO News
One of CZ LOKO’s main activities is the rebuilding and modernisation of diesel locomotives. Under its fleet renovation strategy, UNIPETROL DOPRAVA recently placed an order for two EffiLiner 1600 locomotives, known colloquially among Czech railway workers as „bison“.
The first to be delivered was 753.606, shown in the photo on 12 October at Česká Třebová during a test run.
