On 21 May 2020 Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ) has ordered ten Smartrons from Siemens Mobility. 

On 18 June 2020 representatives from Bombardier, Krungthep Thanakom and Bangkok Mass Transit System (BTSC) celebrated the arrival of the first INNOVIA automated people mover vehicles in Thailand.

On 5 June 2020 the three WINK trains, built at Stadler Siedlce works for Arriva Nederland, arrived in the Netherlands.

On 23 May 2020 a five-car dual-voltage ICNG 3108 arrived as a first NS Coradia Stream EMU in the Netherlands, being sent from the Alstom Chorzów factory.

In late May 2020 TVZ started deliveries of the batch-built carriages for the Egypt National Railways, forming part of a contract for 1,300 cars signed in 2018. 

This year, for the first time in 73 years, the inhabitants of Kraków did not see the procession of Lajkonik, one of the oldest traditions with a 200-year history.

After being well established in Bulgaria, Smartrons start to operate in Romania now. Bucureşti-based operator E-P Rail has placed an order for four last year, and the first one was handed over to the customer just recently and put in service.

In mid-March 2020, the production of a booster for the Class 2ES6 locomotive was started at the UL plant of Verkhnyaya Pyshma.

On 11 June 2020 Stadler announced that Rhätische Bahn will order 20 additional Capricorn EMUs worth 172.9 million CHF.

Between 14 and 16 June, international passenger services from the Czech Republic in the directions to Austria and Germany were restored, this including the operation of railjet Praha - Wien - Graz services and “Berliner” Praha - Berlin - Hamburg (- Kiel) services. At the same time, this enabled start of one new direct Graz - Wien - Praha - Berlin railjet service.

BLS has started to modernise its Class Re 465 locomotives, which, after about a quarter of a century of operation, will be adapted to another 15 years of service.

In mid-May 2020, 2ES10-167 was finished at UL, becoming the first locomotive of the Class 2ES10 to receive new modular driver's cabs.

On 15 June 2020 AB Transitio has ordered 12 more Class ER1 four-car DOSTO EMUs from Stadler.
