Pau To Canfranc By 2020?
The rebuilding of the 24.7 km of railway between Oloron-Sainte-Marie and Bedous and its reinauguration on 3 July 2016 has paved the way for a complete reinstatement of the railway crossing of the central Pyrenees, between Pau, Canfranc and Zaragoza over the coming four years. Will this be a case of „fourth time lucky“ for this railway, which by 2020 will have been inactive for 50 years?

The Voralpen-Express, which links Luzern and St. Gallen, is the flagship service of the Schweizerische Südostbahn. Some of the push-pull stock used on it, however, has now been in service for around four decades, and consists of Class Re 446 or Class Re 456 electric locomotives powering rakes of carriages, with driving trailers.
The picture shows one of the future SOB FLIRT 3 EMUs which will have modified front end designs.
