ČD Cargo Orders Vectrons

posted on 13th Apr 2016 19:34

In late July 2015 ČD Cargo invited tenders for a batch of interoperable electric locomotives. The result was that on 13 April 2016 a contract was signed with Siemens for five Vectron MSes. They will be designated Class 383. The first is to be delivered in June 2016, and the remainder until the end of the year. They will be fitted for operation in the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and Romania and equipped with ETCS. It has been indicated that they will initially be used for example on automotive trains between Slovakia, the Czech Republic and eastern Germany. This is the very first time that ČD Cargo has placed an order for state-of-the-art electrics.
