Class ED160 - The Longest FLIRT 3 EMUs
Stadler Polska, in consortium with Newag, recently built 20 eight-car FLIRT 3 EMUs ordered by PKP Intercity in 2013 for long distance services in Poland. The trains were put into regular passenger service in December 2015 and January 2016.

1520 Strategic Partnership in Sochi
The main theme of the XI International Rail Business Forum Strategicheskoe partnerstvo 1520 held in Sochi on 2 and 3 June 2016 was the „Map of Priorities for Areas Using 1,520 mm Gauge Networks“.
On 2 June 2016 RZD and KTZ signed an agreement on co-operation in the field of electronic data interchange in international railfreight transport. The document was signed by RZD President Oleg Belozyorov (on the right) and KTZ President Askar Mamin.

NIM Express Class 102 Presented
On 27 June Škoda Transportation held a Class 102 presentation ceremony at the VUZ test centre Velim. Chosen for this event was 102 002.
A meeting of 102 002 and 001 following the presentation. 102 001 then took to the large circuit, to continue with a series of braking tests.

Gotthard Base Tunnel Official Inauguration
After 17 years of work, on 1 June 2016, the new Gotthard Base Tunnel, the worlds longest and deepest railway tunnel, was formally inaugurated.
On 1 June 2016 the specially designed fire-fighting and tunnel rescue train (LRZ) heads towards the northern portal of the Gotthard Base Tunnel.

A Visit To Siemens’s Main Locomotive-Building Factory
The ramping-up of Vectron production, based on a cyclical manufacturing procedure, a stronger orientation towards service-related business and digitalisation of locomotive fleet management keeps the competitive edge alive for Siemens. A recent visit to the München-Allach factory revealed the changes for the future which are being implemented throughout this historic complex.
