First Citadis For The T9 Tramline

posted on 3rd Dec 2019 17:09

On 3 December 2019 the first Citadis tram for the T9 line which connects Porte de Choisy to the town of Orly was inaugurated in Orly. In November 2016, Île-de-France Mobilités chose Alstom to supply it with 22 Citadis X05 trams, which are scheduled for start of regular service in December 2020. They are being built at Alstom’s Aytré (La Rochelle) works, with delivery starting in November 2019 and to be completed by October 2020.

The new trams are 45 m long, have eight double leaf doors per side and a capacity of up to 314 passengers. Special attention has been paid to their design, created in partnership between Alstom's Design&Styling teams and the agency Design Saguez & Partners, featuring 45 % of glass surfaces, bench seats and signature lighting throughout the entire vehicle, both inside and out, notably for a better visibility of the opening and closing doors.
