posted on 12th Jul 2023 18:46

On 12 July 2023 Škoda Group has been awarded an order for delivery of 10 ForCity Classic trams for TEB of Bergamo (Tramvie Elettriche Bergamasche), including three years of full service.

The trams will be bi-directonal, five-car vehicles with three bogies, two of which will be powered. The 32 m long trams with a maximum speed of 70 km/h will be 100% low-floor and adapted for people with reduced mobility. The driver's cab and passenger compartment will be air-conditioned. Remote diagnostics will allow real-time monitoring of the vehicles' condition and proactive maintenance. These trams will be the first in the Škoda's production to be equipped with an advanced anti-collision system that increases safety and protects passengers and pedestrians.

Deliveries of the ForCity Classics are scheduled for the next three years and are part of a larger contract that includes the entire turnkey project to build a new T2 tram line which will run from the city centre towards north-west. It will be 11.5 km long and will have 17 new stops and two existing ones.

On 7 July 2023 the contract with the consortium formed by Impresa Milesi geom. Sergio, G.C.F. Generale Costruzioni Ferroviarie, Škoda Transportation and Impresa Edile Stradale Artifoni was signed at TEB's offices, which will lead to the construction of the T2 line in the Brembana Valley Bergamo - Villa d'Almè. The line is expected to be opened in September 2026.
