Older readers may recall the Helsinki Olympics of 1952, when the Czech long distance runner Emil Zátopek won two gold medals for the 5,000 m and 10,000 m races. On 27 June 2013 Type 109 E electrics were collectively named after the runner, the christening ceremony being performed by Dana Zátopková, his widow. 380.007 was chosen for the naming ceremony. The event at Praha hl. n. was also attended by ŠKODA TRANSPORTATION CEO Josef Bernard, the company’s director of research and development, Vladimír Malý, and EBC CEO Ulrich Wiescholek (far right on the second photo), who presented ŠKODA with the original certificate confirming that the Type 109 E locomotive complied with the TSI High Speed RST standard.
