Czech Raildays 2017
As every year in June, the Czech Raildays trade fair was held in Ostrava, this time between the 13th and 15th of the month. This was the 18th year of the event. On the following pages we describe some of the most interesting exhibits.
CZ LOKO exhibited various locomotives. The photo shows 744.101, which is of the latest EffiShunter 1000 design, whose prototype 744.001 was built in 2012.

Transport Logistic, Part 2
In this report we continue from where we left off in R 3/17, on our exploration of exhibits at transport logistic 2017 in München.
VTG presented its "VTG Concept Car", a wagon intended specifically for exhibition purposes, incorporating a number of new features which can be incorporated in various types of wagon.

To The Sea: Two French High Speed Inaugurations
Following a formal inauguration event and special trains on 1 July 2017, the following day SNCF started up public services on the new LGV Sud Européenne Atlantique and LGV Bretagne - Pays de la Loire.
At 08.32 on 1 July 2017 TGV L’Océane 818 (on the left) is about to leave Paris Montparnasse bound for Bordeaux, as the first of the special trains on inauguration day of the LGV L’Océane and LGV BPL.

HS2: The Project Evolves
Phase One of the project covering construction of the new high speed railway received Royal Assent on 23 February 2017. Then, on 20 April HS2 Ltd invited tenders for 54 new trains, suitable for use both on this railway and also on existing main lines.
Andreas Vogler Studio confirmed its interest to take part in the HS2 tenders with its AeroLiner 3000, which could be offered either as a double deck or also as a single deck train.

More On Hydrogen Fuelled Trains
On account of the considerable response to our article in R 2/17 on the hydrogen fuelled iLint multiple unit and the use of hydrogen fuel cells as a source of power for rail vehicles, we have decided to publish a further two articles on this topic.
Between 3 April and 19 May 2017 Alstom’s Coradia iLint 654 102 visited the VUZ Velim test circuits. This photo shows it on the large circuit on 30 April.

DB LINK DMU Tests Continue
In June 2017 a pair of DB’s future LINK DMUs ran tests in Austria. These were three-car 633 001 and two-car 632 031.
