Bar Car Of Suisse Train Bleu Renovated

posted on 12th May 2021 14:47

The first class express train Suisse Train Bleu from the 1950s, with its nostalgic interior, is part of a railway history. Recently a bar car was overhauled at Müller of Frauenfeld and its interior completely renovated at Romanshorn-based Locorama.

The Suisse Train Bleu consists of three side aisle cars with comfortable 1st class six-seat compartments. It is supplemented with a 1st class side aisle car and a comfort class car, as well as a bar car. The latter received a complete overhaul, which was also possible thanks to the support of the Schützengarten brewery.

During the renovation, it was found that the damage on the car is more serious than originally assumed. It was necessary to partially replace the floor and re-seal all windows - which resulted in a exterior repainting. In addition, there are still various other repair work to be done.

This means that the entire Suisse Train Bleu rake can be used again for cross-border adventure journeys as well as for nostalgic steam runs. Rail Event of Frauenfeld and ZRT Bahnreisen of Brig are working together to ensure that the Suisse Train Bleu can continue to be used at domestic and foreign journeys in the future, being supported by the Frauenfeld-based operator TR Trans Rail.
