First OVK Platform Wagons For DB Cargo

OVK (Obedinyonnaya vagonnaya kompaniya - United Wagon Company, UWC) is gradually penetrating the European wagon market. On 18 September 2018 DB Cargo and OVK signed a Letter of Intent regarding a future contract for 80-foot 1,435 mm-gauge platform wagon suitable for container traffic. On 27 November 2018 an announcement was made that a contract had been confirmed for 130 Class Sggrs platform wagons, to be delivered during the first half of 2020. There is an option for further batch of unspecified size, now resulted in a total of 160 wagons.

In August 2019 TVSZ has sent first of the Class Sggrs80 wagons of Deutsche Bahn for testing. This ceremony was attended by a delegation headed by DB's Chief Procurement Officer Uwe Günther and Head of Asset Management & Technology at DB Cargo Thomas Jäger, as well as UWC's Chief Executive Officer Timofey Khryapov. It is planned to get the wagons fully certified in compliance with TSI requirements by the end of 2019.
