On 16 April 2020 OVK (UWC) announced it has signed a contract with Moskva-based Dessa, a leasing company on the transportation services market, for the supply of an additional batch of 20 new generation 60-foot flat wagons for the timber. They will be delivered to Dessa by the end of May this year. The latest deal will raise the number of TikhvinSpetsMash-built wagons in the company’s fleet to 65, all being of Model 13-6895.
They have a higher payload of 72.5 t and increased loading volume of 155 m3, enabling them to be loaded with up to 40 % more freight compared with equivalent models available on the market. The wagons are 19,540 mm long over couplings, 4,300 mm high above rail top and 3,220 mm wide. They weigh 27.5 t tare, and are designed for a top service speed of 120 km/h. The wagons are mounted on Model 18-9855 bogies with a 25-t axle load and have a service life of 40 years. The cooperation between both companies began in 2017.
