Traktionssysteme Austria (TSA) has started its business partnership with Hungarian bogie manufacturer Ganz Motor already in 2018 and was now awarded the first order. The Type TMF 59-33-4 electric motor, one of TSA‘s bestsellers, was adapted to Ganz Motors‘ bogie and the first four prototypes were delivered last year.

TSA has now won the first batch order for 46 motors, with an option for four more. The bogies will be installed into vehicles of US manufacturer of railroad maintenance equipment Loram. The deliveries of the motors are scheduled between June 2021 and August 2020. The vehicles will be in service in India and Australia.

Ganz Motor Kft of Budapest, a 100 % subsidiary of Ganz Holding, is a longstanding Hungarian manufacturer of diesel engines, power transmissions and bogies for railway vehicles. At InnoTrans 2018 it exhibited its newly designed heavy duty Type GANZ 225.1-10 bogie with asynchronous traction motors.

The 1,435 mm track gauge bogie forms part of the Ganz Modular Bogie Family, covering all gauges from 1,000 to 1,676 mm. The bogie has steel spring primary suspension and secondary suspension formed of two pairs of steel-rubber blocks.

During InnoTrans Ganz Motor signed a framework agreement with Loram Maintenance the Way Inc., USA for the delivery of the aforementioned bogies for Loram’s machines. The first batch of these bogies was supplied in 2019.
