Certification Of Penzadieselmash’s New Traction Generator

On 2 July 2020 Penzadizelmash (PDM) of Penza received a certificate of compliance of RS FZhT (the Federal Railway Transport Certification Register) for batch production of Type GPP-840 traction generators. Certification tests were carried out in the VELNII testing centre (the All-Russian Research Institute of Electric Locomotive Engineering) of Novocherkassk.
The test results confirmed compliance with the TR TS 001/2011 technical regulations of the Customs Union and were issued to Penzadieselmash for a period of three years. The document is valid on the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union - Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia. The new DC generator was designed at PDM as part of the import substitution program („importozameshchenie“) to replace the traction generators imported from Ukraine.
The service life of the GPP-840 generators is 32 years. They are designed for Class TEM18DM diesel shunters built by BMZ (Bryansk engineering works). Batch production of DC traction generators is a new area of activity for PDM. In 2020 the company plans to manufacture an introductory batch of 100 Type GPP-840 generators.
