Modernization of ČD's Class 742 locomotives at CZ LOKO continues

CZ LOKO, which won the contract for the complete modernization of 14 Class 742 locomotives to the EffiShunter 1000M type, handed over the first of them to ČD on 27 June 2023. Jiří Ješeta, Member of the Board of Directors and Deputy Director General of ČD for Passenger Transport, says: "The comprehensive modernisation of the Class 742s to the Type EffiShunter 1000M locomotives is also part of our Strategy 2030, which will renew a significant part of our fleet. These locomotives are designed to perform in independent (diesel) traction on ETCS-equipped corridors." 

The original plan was to complete all 14 locomotives by 2024, but CZ LOKO has managed to accelerate the work and the entire order should be completed this year.
