On 31 May 2021 RAILPOOL took over E.494 580, its 10th TRAXX DC3 locomotive. The batch is designated E.494 571 to 580, and the first two were handed over by Bombardier Transportation in November 2020. This delivery brings the number of TRAXX DC3 locomotives circulating on the Italian network since 2019 to 82. All were built at Vado Ligure works, now forming part of Alstom.
RAILPOOL CEO Torsten Lehnert said: „We are very happy to celebrate the delivery of the 10th TRAXX DC3 dedicated to the Italian market, which is added to the fleet of the 11 locomotives inherited by LocoItalia. We are also proud to have in February signed a long-term agreement with Alstom Italy for the corrective maintenance of our Class E.494s.“
Peter Ammann, Head of Customer Management Locomotives at Alstom, said: „The on-time-delivery of the 10th TRAXX DC3 for Italy adds to the more than 200 locomotives that we have delivered to RAILPOOL to date, and we look forward to continuing this successful and long-lasting partnership”. In total, RAILPOOL has more than 400 locomotives, operating in 16 European countries.
