TMH Hungary To Modernise MÁV-Start Carriages

On 31 July 2020 TMH announced that the Dunakeszi works, recently acquired by TMH Hungary, has been selected by MÁV-START for the heavy overhaul and modernisation of 403 coaches. Worth over 90 million EUR, this project provides for four years of maintenance activity to the Dunakeszi plant.

Out of the 403 carriages included in this contract, 263 are currently operated on the Hungarian network and 140 on international services. This project includes periodical revision for 194 vehicles and full modernisation for 209 cars. The latter will receive a completely refurbished interior, new automatic doors, LED lighting, USB sockets, and will be repainted according to MÁV-START new exterior design. 

Terence Watson, TMH International Senior Vice President Europe, said: „Winning this contract is an important step for us, since our clear intention is to set up in Dunakeszi works  the biggest rail vehicle manufacturing and services base for Hungary and Eastern Europe.“
