Schneebergbahn: Anniversary Celebration Of 125 Years

posted on 3rd Aug 2022 09:27

The Schneebergbahn has been climbing the highest mountain in Lower Austria for 125 years. This anniversary will be celebrated on 13 August with an open air live performance at 1,800 m above sea level at Hochschneeberg station. "For 125 years now, the high plateau of the Schneeberg has been made accessible by a rack railway. Its construction at the end of the 19th century was an incredible pioneering achievement. Then as now, Schneebergbahn is a magnet for tourism and an indispensable economic factor for an entire region," says Provincial Councillor for Mobility Ludwig Schleritzko.

On 13 August, the Salamanders will run every half hour from Puchberg from 08.00 h. There will be live music all day at all the huts on the Schneeberg. At 11.00 h there will be a mountain mass at Elisabeth-Kircherl. The crowning finale will be the open-air live performance "125 years of the Schneebergbahn in the sound of the mountain" at 20.30 h at the Hochschneeberg mountain area.
