On 29 September 2021, Siemens Mobility and Vossloh Locomotives signed an agreement to equip the latter’s Type DM 20-EBB locomotives with on-board ETCS Level 2. Initially it will be installed in 100 of these newest Dual-Mode locomotives, so that they can be used in cross-border operations in the Netherlands, Germany and Austria.

Bernd Hoppe, Vossloh Locomotives Executive Director and General Manager, said: „Awarding Siemens the order marks the start of our long-term partnership in the ETCS field. So far, Siemens Mobility recently equipped Type DE 18 locomotives with the Trainguard Basic PZB ATP and set them up for ETCS operation.“

Vossloh Locomotives announced on 23 June 2021 that Paribus Rail Investment Management (and Northrail) has signed a framework agreement to purchase 50 Type DM 20-EBBs. Taking into account the ETCS Atlas OBU order for 50 Type DE 18 SmartHybrids for Nexrail, which was released by Alstom in June, prior the respective locomotive order announced in September 2021, it can be expected that a client for the remaining 50 of 100 Type DM 20-EBB locomotives will be announced shortly.
