First Slovak RegioPanter In Regular Service

On 1 December 2020, first Class 661 RegioPanter entered regular passenger service with ZSSK. For this purpose, a press conference was held at Žilina station with the participation of representatives of the Slovak Ministry of transport (MDV SR), ZSSK and the Škoda Transportation/ŽOS Trnava consortium. The first service was stopping train Os 4472 Žilina - Zwardoń, formed by a three-car 661.001 EMU.
At least three more RegioPanters are to be delivered to ZSSK by the end of the year. The new trains will be gradually used in the Žilina and Trenčín regions, especially on the Žilina - Trenčín, Žilina - Čadca, Čadca - Zwardoń (Polish border station) and Žilina - Liptovský Mikuláš lines.
Between 2020 and 2022 ZSSK is to take delivery of 25 dual-voltage (3 kV DC and 25 kV AC) 160 km/h RegioPanter EMUs, of them 13 will be three-car Class 661s and 12 will be four-car Class 660s.
