Fourth Batch Of Class ALP-45 DP Locomotives Ordered

posted on 3rd Sep 2020 15:39

On 2 September 2020 Bombardier Transportation announced that New Jersey Transit Corporation has exercised an option for eight Class ALP-45 dual-power locomotives. This is NJ TRANSIT’s fourth order for this type and is based on a contract signed in 2008. NJ TRANSIT will now own 60 of these locomotives.

The 2008 contract comprised 26 locomotives (with an option for 63 more). These are numbered 4500 to 4525 and were delivered between 2011 and 2014.

In July 2011 NJT took up the first option and ordered nine more locomotives, these numbered 4526 to 4534, and delivered between 2012 and 2014.

On 2 January 2018 Bombardier announced that NJT had taken up a second option, for 17 more machines, these numbered 4535 to 4551, and to be delivered from 2020.

The latest batch will be numbered 4552 to 4559, deliveries are scheduled for 2022.

Following our question in April, we again asked Bombardier how many Class ALP-45 DP locomotives from the second option (4535 to 4551) had been built so far and how their deliveries continue. We also asked for photo(s) of locomotives from this latest batch. We are waiting for reply...
