On 22 September 2022, HÜBNER Group announced it will be a supplier of products for Siemens Mobility delivering gangway systems for both the Velaro high speed trains and the Desiro HC EMUs. In addition, Gersys, which belongs to the HÜBNER Group, will be equipping the Vectron freight locomotives for Egypt with driver assistance systems.

Siemens Mobility and HÜBNER have now finalised the contract for this order at InnoTrans. At the end of May 2022, Siemens Mobility and its consortium partners Orascom Construct and The Arab Constructors signed a contract with the Egyptian National Authority for Tunnels (NAT).

For the new network, Siemens will build 41 eight-car Velaros and 94 four-car Desiro HC EMUs. The order for HÜBNER includes 105 high-speed gangways in its initial basis and a possible option for a further 182 gangways for a total of 41 trains. HÜBNER Group will use its locations at the Kassel headquarters, a new factory currently under construction in Bangalore, India, as well as the companies HÜBNER-H in Nyíregyháza, Hungary, and PolymerTechnik Ortrand GmbH (PTO) in Brandenburg.

The 41 Egyptian Vectrons will be equipped with EBuLa 7900 driver assistance systems from Gersys, which has been part of the HÜBNER Group since 2019 and manufacturers at its headquarters in Wolfratshausen, Germany, close to München.
