On 9 December 2025, Alstom announced a strategic investment of 100 million dirhams to expand and diversify its industrial capabilities in Morocco. At the heart of this initiative is the multi-platform production line for train driver's desks, marking a significant milestone that positions the Kingdom as an international reference in the railway industrial value chain. In addition to this new production line, a broader industrial development plan is being launched. It includes the doubling of production capacity for transformers, along with the creation of a development and engineering office to strengthen local expertise and support innovation.

“Seeing this first global production line established within our AMECA region is a strong signal of the industrial momentum we are building,” said Martin Vaujour, President of Alstom Africa Middle East and Central Asia. “The driver desks manufactured here will equip projects across the world, demonstrating our region’s capacity to deliver strategic industrial solutions for the Group. This initiative is part of a wider plan that will sustainably reinforce our production and engineering capabilities across the AMECA region.
Thanks to this expansion, the project will generate over 200 direct jobs. The doubling of our Mitrac capacity and the opening of an engineering office represent a major milestone for the Moroccan industrial ecosystem."

Alstom, which already employs more than 1,400 people in Morocco, has delivered key projects including 270 Citadis trams for Rabat and Casablanca, 12 Avelia Euroduplex trains for the high-speed line linking Tangier and Casablanca, and 77 Prima locomotives. Since 2020, Alstom has invested nearly 200 million dirhams in the creation of the industrial site in Fez and the launch of the country’s first transformer production line. These investments laid the foundation for today’s industrial ecosystem and enable the expansion announced today.
