The inaugural train on the 15th was the 09.15 ex-Madrid-Atocha. Upon arrival at Camp de Tarragona MITMA Secretary General Xavier Flores and Iryo CEO Simone Gorini, together with representatives from Adif AV and the CNMC, were met by Pau Ricomà, the Mayor of Tarragona, and were taken to the Roman amphitheatre in the city for a media event, at which Ricomà observed: "With the starting up of this service, we are opening the doors of our city to a new flow of visitors who will discover what Tarragona has to offer in the way of historic architecture, sandy beaches gastronomy and traditional fiestas - only a few of the various attractions which we want to share with our visitors during the whole year."
