posted on 29th Jul 2020 09:17

Jerusalem Transportation Masterplan Team (JTMT), the public transport agency in Israel‘s capital, has selected CAF to deliver 114 new low-floor Urbos trams which will be equipped with traction motors produced by Traktionssysteme Austria. Jerusalem inaugurated its first tram route (Red Line) in 2011. The new Green Line is estimated to transport up to 200,000 passengers per day on a 20.6 km long route with 53 stops.

With more than 1,400 motors, TSA was awarded contract for the highest number of Urbos motors in an individual order so far. The new vehicles are expected to enter service in 2025. This motor design has already been used for tram projects worldwide (Oslo, Luxemburg and Canberra) and has proven its reliability.
