On 21 July 2021, a new automated production line for the engine assembly has been implemented at Kolomensky zavod (Kolomna works, KZ). The new line with state-of-the-art high-tech equipment enables the assembly of a diesel engine in only 42 hours.

It has eight working stations and its operation is clearly balanced, with operator workloads evenly distributed according to the assembly cycle. Every seven hours, the engine is moved to the next working station using a six-axle transport robot.

The automated assembly line will increase production rate of diesel gensets to 650 annually. The total volume of investments in the reconstruction, repair of the building and purchase of equipment for the machine assembly shop is about 4.5 billion RUB (around 51.4 million EUR).

KZ's comprehensive technical development plan is designed for the period from 2018 to 2022. The cost of the investment programme is about 12 billion RUB (around 137 million EUR). Approximately 3.5 billion RUB (around 40 million EUR) have been allocated for the implementation of the planned activities in 2021.
