New cars for Tverskoy Ekspress

On 23 March 2026, TVZ announced that it will build 36 cars for the private company Tverskoy Ekspress for the new „Nochnoy ekspress“ (“Night Express”) service on the Moskva - Adler route. The “Night Expresses” of this operator currently runs between Moskva and St. Peterburg and are also made up of cars produced by TVZ. The main feature of these higher-comfort trains is the original exterior design in black with gold accents, reminiscent of a starry night sky.
This design will be retained for the 36 new cars, which will be formed in two rakes, each with couchette, sleeping, staff and dining cars. Muted pastel colours were chosen for the interior, creating the atmosphere necessary for a night train. The cars are to be completed this summer and will be provided to the operator under a leasing agreement with the State Transport Leasing Company (GTLK, Gosudarstvennaya transportnaya lizingovaya kompania).
Moskva-based Tverskoy ekspress was founded in 2003 as a subsidiary of TMH (majority shareholder) and TVZ and began operating the “Megapolis” night services between Moskva and St. Peterburg on 3 October 2006. However, Transmashholding later sold its stake to Transgrupp, a company engaged in rail logistics and transportation; since then, the exact composition of the shareholders has not been publicly available.
