Stadler's new facility in Lower Austria

posted on 10th Apr 2026 16:02

With the grand opening of the new hall in Obersiebenbrunn near Wien on 10 April 2026, Stadler is expanding its capacity for the commissioning, certification, and servicing of modern rail vehicles in Austria. The project was completed in cooperation with STRABAG in just seven months.

The new hall is situated on the existing siding of the AGRANA sugar factory in Obersiebenbrunn/Leopoldsdorf and, in addition to a hall approximately 225 m long and 4,600 m² in area, also includes office space and an additional tent-like hall used for storage.

The hall has been used to maintain WESTbahn's SMILE high-speed trains since March 2026. It is a comprehensive facility, which will be available to all operators for servicing Stadler-built vehicles. It will also allow for the preparations for a wide variety of test runs, because there is planned to create also the test circle, enhancing the lack of testing capacity in Austria - see here ad here.

Thanks to its direct connection to the Marchegger Ostbahn, which will be equipped with sideline ETCS enabling 200 km/h, the site is optimally integrated into the rail network.
