All locomotives will be equipped with ATLAS on-board ETCS, part of them will be delivered with the diesel or battery Last Mile propulsion. Final assembly will be carried out at the Kassel works, deliveries are scheduled to take place between 2025 and 2028.

Fabien Rochefort, Akiem CEO added: “Akiem is thrilled to place this new order with Alstom. We are constantly investing in our locomotive portfolio to serve our customers and develop new market positions. 55 locomotives as part of this order will operate from France towards Europe in a context when no deliveries were experienced for the past decade. We are intending to contribute to the rejuvenation of rail freight and intercity passenger transport in France.“

The Universal version is new, includes TRAXX3 generation locomotives (AC, DC and MS) and was first presented to the public at this year's transport logistic. Following the contract for Northrail, the recent Akiem order is the second of its kind. In August 2022 Akiem ordered 65 Vectrons, some of them with a maximum speed of 230 km/h.
