On 10 July 2023 during the INNOPROM industrial exhibition (10 - 13 July) in Yekaterinburg, Sinara presented the first Class ES104 Lastochka EMU. It is fitted for 3 kV DC and its key feature is the Russian traction equipment. In the next two years, this 160 km/h train will become the base platform for a whole line of domestic EMUs of the new generation, with the lengths possible between 4 and 12 cars, replacing the various versions of Lastochka based on the Siemens’s Desiro ML family.

The designation ES104 means: E - elektropoyezd (EMU), S - skorostnoy (rapid), 100 - it was agreed with RZD that the Lastochkas developed at UL will start with an inventory number of „100“, 4 - even digit standing for direct current. The new train with a power of 2,932 kW and a 2'2' + Bо'Bо' + 2'2'+ Bo'Bo' + 2'2' axle arrangement has an average acceleration of 0.7 m/s2 and can serve the platform heights of 200, 1100 and 1300 mm above rail top. The basic five-car Class ES104 unit provides for 416 seats (compared to 346 seats in the Class ES2G Standard unit), and a total capacity of 1,265 passengers. Entrance door width is 1,250 mm.

Certification of the Class ES104 is scheduled for October 2023. A contract for 22 EMUs has been signed. By the end of the first quarter of 2024, ten units are scheduled to be delivered to RZD.

The stand of Sinara Group also presented other developments of the company, including a model of the new Class 2TE35A mainline locomotive with asynchronous traction equipment. The prototype is planned to be built in the first quarter of 2024.
