Alstom signs five-year digital support agreement with SL

posted on 7th May 2025 10:07

Alstom has signed a five-year service level agreement (SLA) with Storstockholms Lokaltrafik to support and further develop the digital systems delivered by Alstom and currently in use in the Stockholm metro. The agreement, effective from 1 April 2025, is an extension of the existing rolling stock supply contract and covers the Movia C20 and C30 fleets. It also includes an option for a two-year extension. This strategic partnership ensures robust digital performance, enhanced cybersecurity, and continuous technological innovation for Stockholm’s metro operations.

As part of the agreement, Alstom will provide comprehensive operational support and further development of the digital systems that contribute to the metro’s operational reliability and efficiency. A 24/7 technical support service will ensure rapid incident handling to minimise operational disruptions. Continuous software updates and dedicated test environments will keep the systems current and ready to meet future demands.

The systems covered by the agreement include remote diagnostics of vehicles, vehicle communication systems, CCTV transmission, and energy monitoring – all designed to enhance passenger and staff safety, ensure real-time passenger information, and support efficient energy use and savings. Alstom’s HealthHub platform enables real-time monitoring of train condition and performance, identifying maintenance needs before failures occur. This predictive maintenance capability reduces the risk of unexpected downtime and supports more reliable and efficient metro services.

In addition to the core services, Alstom will also offer tailored digital solutions, training for SL’s technical staff, and rapid response services in the event of critical cybersecurity threats. Together, these measures provide the foundation for a modern and future-ready metro infrastructure.

Alstom is the largest supplier to the Swedish rail market, with more than one thousand trains delivered and several major maintenance contracts in place. Alstom is also leading the rollout of the ERTMS in Sweden, both onboard and trackside.
