CHARME coaches prior the start of regular service

Stadler is executing a KTZ contract from December 2022 for new passenger cars with a maximum speed of 160 km/h, for day and night trains on domestic and international routes. There are a total of 557 cars. The first batch, the production of which has been running at the Stadler Kazakhstan works in Astana since last year, includes 51 cars as follows: 21 sleeping compartment cars, 21 platskartny, 3 shtabny and 6 generator cars. The cars have already been completed and passed tests.
On 26 December 2025, the cars were approved according to the TR TS 001/2011 "On the safety of railway rolling stock" standard and are currently undergoing the pre-validation phase prior to the start of commercial service. Earlier this year, KTZ requested several additional system adjustments. These modifications were implemented and successfully tested until May 2026.
The coaches are ready, and Stadler is currently waiting for the acceptance schedule from KTZ representatives. Further details regarding the pre-validation phase will be announced once the acceptance process is completed.
