Alstom has signed a contract worth 194 million EUR with FERROVIENORD for the supply of a first batch of 31 four-car regional EMUs to Lombardy Region. This contract is the first one within a framework agreement also signed today with FNM. The trains will be delivered gradually from 2022 onwards.

The agreement provides the possibility, within eight years, to purchase 30 additional trains (up to a maximum of 61) and includes options for preventive and corrective maintenance service. The signing follows the award to Alstom of the tender invited by FNM in 2017, subsequent to the approval of the purchase of 176 new trains by Lombardy Region, which allocated 1.6 billion EUR to the global programme.

The 160 km/h trains ordered by FERROVIENORD are named „Donizetti“ (Gaetano Donizetti was Italian opera composer), and form part of Alstom’s Coradia Stream family. They will be 84.2 m in length and will be fitted with 263 seats and two toilettes. There will be space for up to 255 standing passengers.

Project development, the final assembly and certification will be performed at Savigliano works, the traction equipment and other components will be produced at Sesto San Giovanni works, and the on-board signalling systems will be delivered by the Bologna plant. In the last ten years, Alstom has delivered in Lombardy 44 regional trains of a Coradia family, including a Coradia Meridian Minuetto version.
