A key manufacturing milestone has been met in the building of the new trains for the Merseyrail network. Following successful static testing and „sign off“ at Stadler's factory on 2 October the first new Class 777 EMU has been making its way to the Wegberg-Wildenrath test centre for dynamic testing. This will see the train travel up to speeds of 120 km/h, with all dynamic aspects such as braking and EMC thoroughly tested.
The first unit should arrive in the UK in December and will be stabled at Kirkdale as a base for further testing and to allow for driver training. The trains will begin to be rolled out into passenger service from 2020.
