First new-generation FINK delivered to Zentralbahn

During the night of 12 to 13 August 2026, Stadler transported from the Bussnang works the first of ten new FINK EMUs on a rolling bogie from its factory in Bussnang to Interlaken Ost. There, FINK 1 was unloaded on 13 August and placed on the Zentralbahn network.
Commissioning, including comprehensive type tests, will begin in the coming weeks from Meiringen. During this process, the vehicle will be put through its paces under real operating conditions and prepared for service on the Zentralbahn network. Among other things, the tests will assess handling, braking performance, the functioning of the rack-and-pinion and adhesion drive systems, the vehicle control system and the train protection system. Once the tests have been completed and passed successfully, the FINK will receive its final approval and be transferred to regular service.
FINK 1 is expected to enter service from the timetable change on 13 December 2026, initially operating mainly on the new half-hourly service between Luzern and Engelberg, which will be introduced on the same date. The gradual introduction of the remaining nine FINKs will follow in the weeks thereafter. The new trains have 111 seats in second class and 17 in first class. The production time for each train averages around ten months.
From the end of 2027, seven ADLER (Eagle) trains will be added to the fleet. With the largest procurement in its history, Zentralbahn is investing in modern and high-performance trains.
