The Brno-based company Betrian has also succeeded in the Polish market with its NavTrain application after Poland introduced digital orders for drivers on its railway network from 1 July 2026. Electronic train orders enable faster distribution of up-to-date operational restrictions, improve clarity, and reduce the need for paper documentation.
The railway infrastructure manager PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe (PKP PLK) has introduced mandatory electronic delivery of train orders to train crews via the SERWO2 system. NavTrain by Betrian is securely connected to the PKP PLK servers, ensuring reliable communication. In response to this change, Betrian integrated NavTrain with the SERWO2 REST API, enabling a seamless transition to digital operations for railway operators running services on the Polish network.
How Polish Digital Train Orders Work in NavTrain
NavTrain now enables train drivers to automatically download the latest digital train orders after entering the Polish train number, electronically sign them, and continuously monitor whether a new version has been issued. The entire process takes place directly within the application that drivers already use every day for the Czech section of their route. If connectivity is lost, the application immediately notifies the driver.
This allows railway operators running services in Poland or across the Czech - Polish border to work within the single, familiar NavTrain interface without having to train their drivers to use multiple applications. At the same time, operators gain confidence that they are always working with the latest version of train orders in real time, with their receipt verifiably confirmed through electronic signatures.
Pavel Bezděčík, Director of Rail Operations, PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL, said: “Our drivers actively participated in a month-long testing phase of digital train orders in NavTrain before the system went live. The transition to everyday operation was smooth, and our colleagues adapted to the new workflow within just a few shifts. The entire process is faster, more transparent, and eliminates the risk of a driver working with an outdated train order.”
The NavTrain application is not linked to the locomotive, but to the driver (via his tablet). Betrian has about 500 drivers in the system in Poland. In addition to PKP IC, this also includes METRANS, Leo Express and RegioJet. For Betrian, this is one of the gradual steps to build and strengthen its position on the Polish market.
Since 2018, the Betrian Group has been focusing on the rail sector in addition to hardware and software development and process digitalization. It is developing the NavSuite ecosystem, which is designed to optimise the planning, monitoring and management of rail traffic. It simplifies complex logistics processes, from planning commodity shipments to managing locomotive maintenance, planning driver shifts and providing real-time navigation support.
