Liebherr-Transportation Systems is looking forward to welcoming industry professionals at the International Railway Equipment Exhibition (IREE) in Pragati Maida, New Delhi , from 15 to 17 October 2025. In hall 3 at booth 3.29c, Liebherr will unveil its next generation heating, ventilation and air-conditioning solution for metro applications.

The HVAC system on display is specifically developed for the demanding weather conditions in India: from the sweltering summers in Delhi to the humid monsoons in Mumbai and the cooler conditions in the hilly regions. The systems feature frequency-controlled compressors, CO2 and humidity sensors, and a digital control platform. They optimize passenger comfort while reducing energy consumption by up to 25 %. Built for metro trains operating at speeds up to 120 km/h, they prioritize modularity, ease of maintenance, and longevity, ensuring reliable performance.

“We are delighted to participate in IREE for the first time and thus express our commitment to expand our presence in India in the long term based on the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives,” said Fabien Petit, Managing Director of Liebherr-Transportation Systems GmbH & Co KG. “Given the rapid expansion of India’s urban rail network, we are keen to offer energy-efficient and reliable technologies. This includes engineering support, assembly, testing as well as customer service. In addition, we are continuing to intensify the relationship with our Indian supply base.”

Liebherr’s existing facility in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar in the state of Maharashtra is proof of the company’s strategic investment in India’s rail ecosystem. The site is poised to become the Indian center for refrigeration technology, including the assembly and supply of HVAC units for nationwide metro and rail projects. This localization effort is set to contribute to regional economic development, facilitate the transfer of know-how and to reduce import dependency while supply chain responsiveness is enhanced.

Complementing manufacturing, the facility will provide comprehensive lifecycle services, including maintenance, repairs, and upgrades, in collaborating with local operators. Supported by regional offices in Bangalore and Navi Mumbai, Liebherr ensures close cooperation with customers, including metro authorities, and rolling stock manufacturers, to foster solutions that genuinely resonate with India’s passenger base.

Liebherr Appliances India Private Limited actively collaborates with metro operators and manufacturers to co-develop tailored HVAC systems. These partnerships emphasize customization, digitalization, and aftermarket support, aligning with India’s push toward net-zero emissions and modernized infrastructure.
