Škoda Group presented metro for Sofia

On 1 October 2025, the Škoda Group presented a four-car metro set for Sofia at its Plzeň production site, which is part of a contract worth over 1.6 billion CZK (around 65 million EUR) concluded with Metropoliten EAD for the delivery of eight units.
Production is taking place in Plzeň and Ostrava, the project is continuing according to plan, the current status is as follows:
- the first set - type and driving tests are underway on the test circuit in Velim,
- the second set - is completed and is undergoing acceptance testing at the production site,
- the third and fourth sets - production is underway,
- transport of the first set to Sofia - scheduled for early November,
- completion of production of all sets - expected between March and April 2026.
