Akiem invests in 10 Vectron DM locomotives

Akiem confirmed the exercise of an option for 10 additional Vectron Dual Mode locomotives (up to 2.4 MW electric / 2 MW diesel) from Siemens Mobility, after signing a framework contract for 50 locomotives in June 2025. This investment is part of Akiem’s ongoing strategy to modernize its fleet and support the modal shift towards greener, more efficient rail transport. This order includes variants approved to serve the German and Austrian markets and connect them with Central Europe to the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria.
Fabien Rochefort, CEO of Akiem, commented: "Our Dual Mode offering has been a real success with our customers since last June. This confirms our strategy and the quality of our partnership with Siemens. With this new option exercise, we intend to expand our offering and build the services our customers need."
