Alstom To Supply Italy’s First Hydrogen Trains

posted on 26th Nov 2020 14:04

On 26 November 2020, Alstom announced that it will supply six hydrogen fuel cell trains, with the option for eight more, to FNM (Ferrovie Nord Milano), the main transport and mobility group in the Italian region of Lombardy, for a total amount of around 160 million EUR. The first train is expected to be delivered within 36 months of the date of the order.

The new HMUs will be based on the Coradia Stream platform, which is dedicated to the European market and already being produced for Italy at Savigliano, using the on-board ATP delivered by the Bologna site.

The Coradia Stream HMU for FNM will be equipped with the same fuel cell propulsion technology that was used in the Coradia iLint. The hydrogen version will match the operational performance of DMUs, including their operational range.
