Kombud Group has unveiled its first family of object controllers developed on the basis of the EULYNX architecture. The solutions mark the next stage in the Group’s development of EULYNX capabilities and confirm its readiness to deliver projects using an open communication standard. Kombud Group’s EULYNX portfolio now includes object controllers for light signals, points, including multi-drive points, level crossings and general-purpose field elements. The system architecture also enables mixed controllers that combine different functions within a single device.
“We are proud that, just one year after presenting our first interface, we can already showcase four complete EULYNX controllers designed for a range of infrastructure applications. We believe there may be market interest in the development of railway signalling systems based on field element controller specifications,” says Wojciech Ulatowski, PhD Eng., Director of Railway Signalling Systems at Rail-Mil.
Object Controller for Light Signals (OC-LS)
The first of the new controllers is the OC-LS, designed to control light signals. Thanks to its modular design, the device can control one or more signals, meeting the requirements of modern railway signalling architectures. The controller has been designed in accordance with the EULYNX EfeS LS specification (Field Element Subsystem for Light Signals).
Object Controller for Points (OC-P)
The second solution is an object controller for points, including multi-drive points. This modular controller is designed to control and monitor up to twelve point machines. The device has been developed for long and coupled turnouts. It comprises a single processor board responsible for communications and several field-element boards dedicated to point-machine control. The solution implements the EULYNX EfeS P functions.
Object Controller for Level Crossings (OC-LC)
The OC-LC object controller supports functions required for the safe management of traffic at level crossings and integrates the control and diagnostics of level-crossing equipment.
Mixed Object Controller, e.g. for Light Signals and Points (OC-LS+P)
The mixed EULYNX object controller is designed to control a selected section of station infrastructure. It reduces the number of controllers required and, consequently, investment costs. In an example configuration, it can be equipped with modules controlling a point machine, a main signal and a shunting signal. One module handles communications and decision-making, while the remaining modules control the field elements. The solution complies with the EfeS LS and EfeS P specifications.
The adopted object-controller architecture allows the functions assigned to each controller to be configured freely. This makes it possible to control different field elements, such as a point machine and a signal, from a common central unit. Detailed diagnostics and continuous monitoring are standard features of Kombud devices and are also available in the EULYNX-based solutions.
Another innovation presented in Berlin at InnoTrans 2026 was an LED signal integrated with a Lineside Electronic Unit (LEU). The solution combines control of the LED signal and a multi-purpose indicator with the transmission of information to balises and onwards to the train. As the entire system operates digitally, the device can be readily configured in line with the EULYNX standard.
“In a single device, we have combined control of an LED signal and a multi-purpose indicator with the transmission of information to balises and onwards to the train. This is a unique solution because the LEU and the signal operate as one integrated element. We have not yet encountered a similar approach on the market,” says Wojciech Ulatowski.
The development of EULYNX technology is currently one of the key directions in the digitalisation of Europe’s railways. Its open architecture enables the integration of solutions from different manufacturers, increases market competition and supports major infrastructure projects using interoperable signalling systems. The standard is being developed by European infrastructure managers, manufacturers and research and development organisations.
In 2025, Kombud Group presented EULYNX interface enabling communication between the MOR-3 interlocking system and object controllers. The solution was showcased at TRAKO exhibition in Gdańsk and paved the way for further development of devices compliant with the EULYNX architecture. At the time, the company also announced its cooperation with Finland’s Relesoft Oy on testing and developing solutions in the EULYNX simulation environment.
