The PESA's GAMA 3.0 locomotive, unveiled during a spectacular show, is the first in a new generation of vehicles offered by the Bydgoszcz-based manufacturer. A special paint scheme was created especially for the trade fair, symbolizing the vehicle's various configuration options.
"The Gama 3.0 locomotive is a continuation of the 111Ed model used by numerous renowned Polish operators. Based on operational experience, market requirements, and our customers' suggestions, we have designed a platform of locomotives equipped with the latest technical solutions to ensure safe and comfortable operation," - said Krzysztof Zdziarski, President of the Management Board of PESA Bydgoszcz.
Pesa offers several types of vehicles within the GAMA 3.0 platform. Electric locomotives – ready for passenger and freight transport, including intermodal transport – can be equipped with an eco-friendly Last Mile module with an ecodiesel engine or battery. This additional drive allows for operation on non-electrified route ends in ports, terminals, and sidings, and is particularly appreciated by intermodal operators.
The 3.0 range also includes dual-power locomotives – ready for passenger and freight transport. Thanks to the use of two equivalent drives, the locomotive can operate in mixed traction on electrified and non-3 kV sections.
"When designing the GAMA 3.0 locomotive platform, we paid particular attention to vehicle service optimization to provide users with greater availability and shorter service downtime. This is why the locomotive's modular design, easier access to components, and intelligent diagnostics shorten inspection and repair times, increasing fleet operational efficiency, which will translate into lower life cycle costs for carriers," emphasized Piotr Rościszewski, Sales Director for the PESA Locomotive Market.
As in previous generations, the GAMA 3.0 is distinguished by a design that combines functionality with form. This includes, among other things, a social area for drivers, as the locomotives can be equipped with small kitchen facilities and restrooms.
The GAMA 3.0 platform was designed with the requirements of the Polish market in mind, while also considering the standards and expectations of foreign operators to enable a smooth entry into international markets. It is a locomotive ready for local operations, with global potential and the ability to reach speeds exceeding 200 km/h. Production of the first locomotives is already underway at the Bydgoszcz plant. The first locomotives will be launched next year.
