On 18 August 2025, MPK Kraków signed the contract with PESA Bydgoszcz for the delivery of 30 new bidirectional trams, each over 33 m long. This is the first delivery of new bidirectional trams in the modern history of MPK Kraków.
"The new trams are a huge step towards accessibility and comfort for all residents. After the contract is completed, Kraków will become a city whose entire tram fleet will consist exclusively of low-floor vehicles, equipped with air conditioning and a modern passenger information system. The last high-floor trams will disappear, which will be particularly welcome for people with limited mobility," said Aleksander Miszalski, Mayor of Kraków.
The first of the new trams will appear on Krakow's streets in early 2028, and the last one in early 2029. The total contract cost is 558.5 million PLN net. Importantly, the purchase of the new trams has already received nearly 74 million PLN in funding from the Centre for EU Transport Projects under the FEnIKS program.
It is worth recalling that Kraków plans to purchase up to another 60 trams, of which 30 are unidirectional trams over 43 m long, and another 30 are unidirectional trams over 33 m long (framework agreements with PESA have already been signed).
