Locomotives for the Sayanogorsk Aluminum Plant

On 16 July 2026, the BMZ handed over to the SPZhT the locomotives ТЕМ23-0014 and 2TE25KM-0838. They will be included in the fleet of one of the largest enterprises of Russian non-ferrous metallurgy - the Sayanogorsk Aluminum Plant (approximately 600 km southeast of Novosibirsk), more precisely, in the fleet of the SPZhT. The latter is an abbreviation for Sayanpromzheldortrans (Sayan Industrial Railway Transport). A special color variant was created for both locomotives, where a mountain massif symbolizing the Sayans is depicted.
The Class TEM23 shunter has two diesel gensets and has been in production since 2021, when two prototypes were built. In 2025, it was included in the register of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, and 14 machines have been delivered so far, with the latest one being delivered to SPZhT.
One diesel locomotive from BMZ is already in the SPZhT fleet - the TM18DM, which was purchased in 2021.
