Class TEM18DM locomotives for 1,435 mm gauge

On 1 July 2026, BMZ handed over to RZD two Class TEM18DM shunters with bogies adapted for the 1,435 mm track gauge. The locomotives will be deployed at the Zabaykalsk - Manzhouli border crossing in the Zabaykalsky krai (region), the largest freight crossing between Russia and China. With the growth of foreign trade with China and the strengthening of the eastern logistics direction, this corridor is becoming especially important for the Russian economy.
The locomotives will be transported to Zabaykalsk on the 1,520 mm bogies and will be fitted with the new bogies at the depot. This is the first modification of the TEM18DM locomotive for the 1,435 mm gauge. In total, BMZ offers six modifications of the Class TEM18DMs.
