New Škoda 52T tram began to carry passengers in Prague

Following the completion of the first phase of testing the Škoda ForCity Plus 52T tram, on 20 June 2025, Dopravní podnik hl. m. Prahy (DPP) and Škoda Group began a test operation with passengers. The vehicle involved has the fleet number 9503 and the testing will take place daily on Line 12, it is expected to last approximately three months.

The Škoda 52T type approval test programme began in April 2025 and included test runs of the tram without passengers. During these runs, tram 9503 travelled 22,622 km: required was 10,000 km without load, then 6,000 km with a load equivalent to five passengers per square metre and 4,000 km with a load equivalent to eight passengers per square metre. Prior to the inaugural passenger service, the first group of DPP drivers underwent training.

Another Škoda 52T, number 9504, is already in Praha and is used for testing of electrical components, for example. It was delivered to DPP on 13 May 2025, and will be seen on the streets of capital during test runs from summer 2025.
