RAILPOOL offers Vectrain under TRAINPOOL brand

posted on 21st Oct 2025 14:11

On 21 October 2025, RAILPOOL announced that it is further expanding its range of services for cross-border passenger transport. In future, the company intends to provide rolling stock in an even more targeted manner in order to promote international rail connections in Europe: "A particularly attractive option comes in the form of the Siemens Vectron locomotive in combination with Siemens Vectouro passenger coaches. The coaches are already approved in many European countries - including Germany, Austria, Czechia, Hungary, Slovakia, Denmark and Poland - and can therefore be used across borders without extensive retrofitting or lengthy approval processes."

Torsten Lehnert, CEO of RAILPOOL, explains: “We are seeing a growing demand for flexible, interoperable and readily available solutions to expand European rail transport efficiently and sustainably. With our tailor-made leasing solutions with full ETCS capability, speeds of up to 230 km/h and flexible configuration options, we want to actively support this demand and look forward to receiving enquiries."

At present, RAILPOOL has not in its fleet or on the order the 230 km/h Vectrons. Upon customer request the lessor can also procure these locomotives.

This is the first case where a company other than ÖBB and ČD has included Siemens' Vectrain non-traction multiple unit platform in its portfolio. In the USA, Amtrak ordered the Airo push-pull trains based on the Siemens Venture passenger cars and the Class SC-44 Charger locomotives.
