TEM23 Prototype In Test Operation

On 12 May 2023, TEM23-0001 started trial operation at Severstal steelworks of Cherepovets (about 380 km north of Moskva). During the supervised trial operation, which will last two months, specialists of BMZ, where this prototype was built in 2021, will provide technical and advisory support. 

Severstal has thus become the first user of this new dual-engine shunter, for which Bryansk Engineering Works received a certificate enabling batch production at the end of 2022, for up to 100 locomotives. Severstal is already using BMZ production at its industrial plants, as the company purchased 10 Class TEM18DM locomotives in 2022, and eight in 2021.
