BMZ received the right to carry out mid-repairs of the Class 2TE25A diesel locomotives Vityaz with the asynchronous propulsion. The works carried out a pilot repair of locomotive No. 005.

According to the results of the work of the interdepartmental commission, the meeting of which was held at BMZ on 14 March 2024, it was confirmed that the plant can perform these repairs of 2TE25A locomotives. The introductory batch is defined by 20 sections (i. e. ten two-section locomotives).

Vityaz is the first mainline freight diesel locomotive with asynchronous traction drive in the history of Russian transport engineering. The batch of 55 Class 2TE25A locomotives were built at Bryansk from 2006 to 2016. All of them are dislocated at the Tynda depot of the Far Eastern Railway.

BMZ is actively developing new competences in the field of diesel locomotive repairs. The plant already carries out mid-repairs and heavy overhauls of Class TEM18DM shunters. Also in 2022, BMZ mastered the repair of the Class 2TE25KM mainline freight locomotives, overhaul of Class 2TE116 locomotives and repair of locomotive wheelsets with traction motors.
