Class DP2D train approved

On 3 August 2026, DMZ received a certificate of compliance with the requirements of TR TS 001/2011 for the Class DP2D diesel train. The certificate allows its operation in Russia and other countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.
The new train passed a series of tests, including a flawless test run of 5,000 km and a test run on the St. Peterburg - Sortavala line. In June 2026, an acceptance commission consisting of representatives of TMH, RZD and relevant institutes reviewed the results of the acceptance tests and documentation. The final stage of the certification process was an analysis of the state of production at the Kolomensky zavod and Demichovsky zavod, carried out by specialists from the RS FZhT.
The DP2D consists of a Class TEP70BS passenger locomotive and two to six cars. Depending on the configuration and internal dimensions chosen by the customer, the DP2D can have 162 to 636 seats. It uses a unified control system in both the locomotive and the driving trailer. The design speed is 120 km/h and the service life is 32 years.
